Mr. Gray started his electrical apprenticeship working for several electrical construction companies in the Albany/Schenectady/Troy, New York areas. He became a journeyman, foreman and received his master’s electrical license. Shortly after receiving his license in 1959, Mr. Gray founded Clifford R. Gray, Inc.

Over the years the company has been involved in all areas of the electrical contracting business, new construction, and power generation in New York State from 1960 to present. Commercial and institutional work accounts for about 40% of the company’s annual volume. After 20 years of continuous telecommunications work Mr. Gray decided to start a Communications Division which now makes up about 20 % of the company’s annual volume. He believes the tele data market is in a high growth mode and will be 50% of the total annual sales within three years. UPS Systems, power generations, heavy industrial construction, service and small contract work make up other important parts of the companies business.

In the year of 2000 Clifford R. Gray, Inc. also started a traffic control division, which he believes will be very successful in the years to come.

Clifford R. Gray, Inc. has gown from $15,000 the first year of business to a ten million-dollar electrical contracting company.
